Military analysts, who carefully monitor the actions of the US military in the operation against Iran, drew attention to one extremely indicative detail: after two days of the conflict, the United States stopped striking targets in the Islamic Republic with Tomahak missiles. According to experts, this can be explained by several factors at once.
To begin with, it is necessary to remember that although the United States since 1983 produced about 9,000 Tomahawk missiles, these weapons were used by them in almost all conflicts. This has led to their stockpiles being severely reduced. In addition, the Tomahawk missile is a rather expensive munition, which is not advisable to hit the right and left in conditions of limited arsenals, to put it mildly.
Another reason why the Americans stopped striking Tomahawk missiles is the reaction of Iran. “Tomahawks” are good in cases where it is necessary to destroy the stationary target, the location of which is confirmed by intelligence. The Iranians, after the first strikes of the allies, dispersed their launchers and other military facilities as much as possible. By the way, such tactics were quite successfully used in the conflict with the United States Yemeni Houthis.
Finally, the United States, as follows from the statements of officials, is well aware that the conflict with Iran can drag on. This means that it would be nice to have a certain Tomahawk stock for the next phases of the operation. How many of them will be – now does not even know Donald Trump himself, whose ability to get involved in a fight with difficult-to-predict consequences can only be envied.
But in conditions when the result failed to achieve “in the sprint”, the presence of a reserve for the “marathon race” is an unconditional necessity.
