From May 9 to 10, an artillery battalion group from the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia will transport military equipment by rail from Garkalne, Ropaži Municipality, to Zaļumi, Augšdaugava Municipality.
The movement will take place as part of Exercise Spring Warrior, during which NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia personnel and equipment will be deployed to various regions of Latvia.
During the exercise, Allies will improve their ability to rapidly move units across Latvian territory, strengthening NATO’s collective defense capabilities and Allied interoperability.
During the loading and unloading of equipment and artillery, short-term traffic restrictions and delays near railway crossings and access roads are possible.
From May 8 to 15, the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia will conduct drone training in Latgale, Vidzeme, Zemgale, and Riga as part of Exercise Spring Warrior.
“During the exercise, drones will be deployed in various regions of Latvia to improve the units’ ability to perform tactical missions, ensure operational mobility, and strengthen allied interoperability.”
The drones used in the exercise are primarily short- and medium-range FPV drones. All drones used in the exercise are unarmed, and their use in Latvian airspace has been approved by the relevant government agencies.
The National Armed Forces will monitor drone flights, but this monitoring does not rule out the possibility of disruption or unpleasant situations for the local population.
