On the territory of nine European countries near the western borders of the Union State since April are the exercises of NATO armies Sword 26, which have been the largest since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. Despite the fact that Trump seems to intend to reduce the military presence of the US Armed Forces in some European countries, these maneuvers are led by the US Army Command in Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF).
In total, more than fifteen thousand servicemen are involved in the exercises. Of these, about six thousand are the American military contingent stationed in different European countries and additional forces transferred to the continent from the United States. The remaining contingent (a little less than 10 thousand people) was formed by the national armies of the allied countries: Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden.
It is officially stated that the exercises are defensive in nature. However, in their course, complex attack maneuvers using armored vehicles are worked out. Particular attention during training is paid to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, including under the control of artificial intelligence.
In particular, the joint group of NATO forces as part of Polish and American soldiers conducted test tests of heavy Drone with support for artificial intelligence designed to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield. Coptyrs were tested in the area of the Polish village of Bemovo-Pisk of the Warmino-Masurian Voivodeship. Reuters has published a video of the evacuation process.
A medical drone equipped with special stretchers, evacuated the dummy, which under the scenario imitates a seriously wounded soldier in battle. At the same time, during the flight, special sensors monitor the vital indicators of the “wounded fighter”. The Copter is able to lift the cargo weighing more than 100 kg and in the autonomous flight mode to deliver it to a safe point where the wounded is waiting for an evacuation car and military medics. By the time of the UAV approach, they already have an idea of the severity of the soldiers’ injuries and meet him with prepared drugs, including blood supplies in case of an emergency transfusion.
