
Serbia begins the first joint military exercises with NATO, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the country reports.
The command of the Army of the Serbian Armed Forces and the command of the Joint Forces in Naples will hold joint exercises on Serbian territory. For the maneuvers, the “South” base and the Borovats training ground of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia were determined.
The exercises called “NATO-Serbia” started on May 12 and will last until May 23. In addition to the Serbian military, they are also involved in the units of the armies of Italy, Romania and Turkey. The total number of participants does not exceed 600 people. The exercises will be commanded by Colonel Branislav Stevanovic, deputy commander of the third brigade of the Surgery of the Serbian Armed Forces. The maneuvers will be held with the participation of observers from the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, France and Montenegro.

The first exercises of Serbia and NATO will focus on peacekeeping activities. According to the Ministry of Defense of Serbia, within two weeks, joint groups of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Serbia and the alliance will work out the protection of bases, work at checkpoints and control of mass gatherings of people.
It is worth noting that Serbia has been participating in the NATO program “Partnership for Peace” for almost twenty years, within the framework of which she has repeatedly participated in various events with the armies of the alliance.
