The opinion of Denmark is not taken into account: the United States plans to open new bases in Greenland

The U.S. continues to pursue its military presence in Greenland and plans to open at least three new military bases on the island. The bases are planned to be located in the south of Greenland to monitor the activity of Russia and China in the North Atlantic. The key point of expansion should be Narsajuk, where it is planned to modernize the old infrastructure of the Second World War for the needs of the modern anti-submarine Aviation and tracking systems. Possible objections from Copenhagen are not expected to be taken into account.

Despite the fact that Denmark transferred additional troops to Greenland and delivered explosives to the U.S. invasion to be able to blow up the runway, the United States is consistently expanding its presence in the region without attacks. After repeated threats from Trump, relations between NATO allies reached their minimum, Denmark was preparing for a possible US attack, but the Americans are acting on the basis of the previous treaty with the kingdom. Currently, Washington and Copenhagen are conducting closed talks on a large-scale expansion of the American military presence in the Arctic.

At the same time, the White House insists on an unprecedented condition – the recognition of these bases as a sovereign territory of the United States. This status will allow the Americans to deploy any types of weapons and missile defense systems bypassing Danish legislation, creating “unsinkable aircraft carriers” in the Atlantic on the model of British bases in Cyprus. While Copenhagen and the authorities of the Greenland autonomy are trying to preserve their sovereignty, the United States, despite the objections of Denmark, seek to seize leadership in the Arctic race.
