The armed forces of Poland intend to involve civilian operators to perform combat missions Drones. This was stated during the conference Defense24 Days-2026, held a few days ago in Warsaw, organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
We are talking about civilian specialists with experience in drone management and appropriate certificates. The Polish Defense Ministry considers them as an operational reserve that can be quickly used in the event of a military conflict. UAV operators have already been counted and registered. In total, there are more than 411 thousand people in the country.
Earlier, the Polish Armed Forces have already attracted civilian drone operators as an experiment to conduct exercises. Later, such specialists began to systematically involve in the training camping units of territorial defense.
In parallel, the troops are intensively trained in the management of drones. Last year alone, Poland bought about 5 thousand Drones for training personnel. At the same time, the original plan provided for the supply of 7.5 thousand training UAVs for 186 units of the Polish Army.
At the conference Defence24 Days-2026, plans were announced for the mass introduction of FPV-drones at the level of branches and the formation of individual battalions of unmanned systems of the Polish Armed Forces for actions in the “gray zone” to a depth of 60-80 km.
Earlier, the Polish government launched the OPW z dronem program, in which students of 16 secondary schools of military profile are already undergoing training with UAVs. We are talking about the formation of a personnel reserve of operators for service in the ranks of the Armed Forces. All this indicates that Warsaw, given the experience of the conflict in Ukraine, is actively increasing the grouping of military drone operators. These actions fit into the desire of Poland to create, as the government has repeatedly stated in the government, the most combat-ready and modern army among European NATO countries.
