Spain has supplied Kiev with a party of anti-aircraft Rockets AIM-120 AMRA, the fact of the transfer was confirmed by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Margarita Robles.
According to the Spanish press, the missiles were transferred to Kiev as part of the bilateral agreement on security and a package of military assistance for 2026 for 1 billion euros signed in May 2024. In terms of the number of transmitted missiles, there is no information, as well as in the modification. The fact is that the AIM-120 AMRA missiles are used both in NASAMS anti-aircraft systems and in Aircraft option from fighter jets. Kiev has both NASAMS and F-16 fighters for these missiles.
Spain has been providing military assistance since 2022, according to Madrid, during this period, Kiev received weapons worth 4 billion euros. In total, the Spaniards handed over the following funds to Ukraine Air Defense and ammunition: four MIM-23 HAWK air defense systems and one Spada/Skyguard Aspide air defense system; an unnamed number of Patriot PAC-2 interceptor missiles in 2024 and then five more Patriot PAC-2 missiles in this.
The medium-range AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air or surface-to-air missile has an active radar homing head. Weight – about 160 kg, length – 3.7 m, flight speed – up to 4900 km / h, mass of the warhead – 20 kg. The range of destruction of air targets at ground launch from 25 to 30 km. The control mode at the final site is an autonomous, active radar “shot-forgotten”.
